In 1967, he created his famous English tweedy look under the Polo label. In 1968, he became founder, designer and chairman of Polo
Fashions New York. He rose to world fame when he designed the men's costume for The Great Gatsby, the 1974 film version of F. Scott
Fitzgerald's novel starring Robert Redford.
